Police locate “suicidal” 45-year-old in Seaton bus shelter near the beach

Coastguard rescue officers were put on standby last night (Tuesday) after a man threatened to walk into the sea at Seaton.

Police called the service at just after 7pm following reports the 45-year-old had indicated he was planning to take his own life.

The man was located a short while later by police. He was sitting in a bus shelter, near the beach, but apparently unharmed.

A coastguard spokesman said he had made a similar threat a few days before, in Dorset, and is believed to have a history of mental health issues.
