A MAN who caused a Honiton woman to fear violence would be used against her has had his sentencing delayed for psychiatric reports.

Nigel Matthew Wilson, 31, from Elmswood Way, Basing, appeared at Exeter Crown Court last week after previously pleading guilty to five charges of sending electronic communications.

The communications were deemed grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.

The offences, many committed through a social network site, date from July to November last year, against a number of women.

Two were from East Devon and two were from other parts of the country.

In one email to a Honiton woman, he wrote "It felt so good strangling a fat wh*re like you" and "I wish I strangled you harder and killed you".

Wilson has been convicted of harassment and sending malicious communications, and could face up to five years in prison.

In mitigation, Johnathan Barnes said: "Some form of treatment has a better means of protecting the public in future."

Wilson, who has already served 10 weeks in prison, was remanded in custody.
