Royal Marines overwhelmed by support.

ROYAL Marines, who are marching to raise 1 million for the Royal British Legion, say the reception they received in Honiton was “the best”.

Lance Corporal Ram Patten, who came up with the idea of the march to raise awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, told a public reception at the Royal British Legion Club: “The welcome we have received in Honiton is the best, so far.

“it has been amazing and I am really touched.

“You will be at the back of our minds as we continue our journey.”

Joining Ram on the march are Sergeant Kev Rose, Mr Matthew Bennett, Lance Corporal Sean Power and Captain Ralph Cottrell, as well as an excellent support crew.

Rounds of applause, cheers and even girlie screams greeted the marchers as they arrived in Dowell Street.

Later, residents asked for their autographs and spoke to them during an informal reception, which included a buffet.

Honiton Town Council contributed towards the cost of the food.
