Fundraisers ready to stride out for the lifeboats
Following its successful ‘yellow wellies’ day at Tesco, the Seaton, Beer and District branch of the RNLI is planning another big fundraising event this weekend.
The Mayday Appeal Walk will take place on Sunday, May 15, with registration at Axe Yacht Club at 10am.
The trek is from there, along the seafront to the end of the West Walk and back again - a distance of some two-and-a-quarter kilometres.
People are invited to go along and complete the walk once in return for a minimum donation of £5 to the RNLI.
Alternatively, they can be sponsored to complete the trek as many times as they wish. Sponsorship forms can be obtained by telephoning branch secretary Wendy Cummins on 01297 20771 or email her at wac500@hotmail.co.uk from Friday.
Meanwhile, officials are still counting up the takings after their successful ‘yellow wellies’ fundraising day, collecting outside at Tesco.
A poster competition for year two pupils from Seaton Primary School attracted 56 entries and was judged by manager Ian Carvell.
Contestants had to colour in a Wellington Boot poster. A joint first prize was awarded to Harvey Macklin and Chenoa Veale, who received chocolates donated by the supermarket, along with certificates from the RNLI.
