PARTNERSHIP work with other councils and organisations has been a major theme this year for Honiton Town Council.

That is what the mayor, Councillor Vivienne Ash, told the annual meeting of electors on Monday night.

She said the year had been marked by uncertainty over Boundary Committee recommendations.

Now that Exeter had been singled out for unitary status, Councillor Ash said she did not feel it was the end of the story.

She said the town council aimed to be "more proactive to enhance the town and raise its profile".

"I was proud of the council when it took the decision to go ahead with the community centre," she added.

Councillor Ash praised councillors for their conduct during the community centre debate.

She went on to praise the public for their comments during the recent public consultation over the 1.75 million plan.;

The consultation period had now ended.
