Meet the new chairman and treasurer of Honiton and District Carnival committee.

Grant Miller has taken over from former chairman Robb Sleeman with Jenny Allen replacing Emma Salter as treasurer.

“It is exciting,” says Grant, who has been on the committee for three years. “There will be new opportunities for me.

“We have got a good committee and we have had a few new people join us.”

Robb and Emma stepped down after two years in the chairman and treasurer posts due to other commitments.

Robb, who has been on the committee for eight years, said: “It was a tough decision to step down. However, I will still be around to support whoever takes on the role. It is a demanding position and I will miss doing my bit.”

This year’s Honiton Carnival will take place on October 25.

Various fundraising events are already in the pipeline to boost funds for the carnival.

There will be a craft fair on Saturday, April 19, at the Mackarness Hall, from 9am until 1pm.

Visitors can treat themselves to tea, coffee and bacon rolls. Tables cost £5 and can be booked by calling 07951 438598.
