Picture of ‘Matt - The Long Ranger ‘ unveiled at Lyme Regis gallery

An East Devon artist’s stunning painting of a bull elephant entitled ‘Matt - The Long Ranger’ has been unveiled.

It has gone on show in Emma Bowring’s Lyme Regis gallery – Edwards and Parr - to coincide with Dorset Arts Weeks.

Emma, who lives in Membury, near Axminster, only took up wildlife painting a few years ago.

She was asked to paint the picture by charity Save the Elephants at the start of the year. Matt is one of the oldest bulls that they have been tracking.

Emma said: “The team from Save the Elephants chose the title for the painting due to the vast distances that he travels. The painting will go on sale in our gallery with 50 per cent going to Save the Elephants, and a further donation to one of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s elephant projects.

“I am passionate about using my work to help wildlife, but obviously passion and even hundreds of hours of my time producing the work may not always be enough and what I also need is support in promoting the painting.”
