Local MEP Neil Parish, who is also the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Tiverton and Honiton, is urging Marks and Spencer not to go ahead with the proposed closure of their food store in Honiton

Mr Parish said: "This is immensely disappointing for the whole town and I would urge Marks and Spencer to reconsider this decision. I can understand that the difficult economic situation is forcing retailers across the country to tighten their belts but Honiton is a vibrant town and one which is well placed to get through the downturn.

"If Marks and Spencer were to keep faith with the town I am sure that they would ultimately see that there is enough trade and demand for the store. It would be most disappointing if they left.
