WORK is being carried out on the Town Mill in Lyme Regis to prevent any risk of the wall collapsing, as it did several years ago.A Town Mill trustee said: "This work has become more critical since we installed the electricity generator last year. "This relies on a constant supply of water along the leat."We have therefore started a programme of work to make the structure more stable."A number of organisations have helped with the funding of the work. "These include Lyme Regis Town Council, West Dorset District Council, 02, Pennon Group, Awards For All, Axe Vale Festival and the George Eyre Foundation. "We are most grateful to them for making the restoration of the leat possible."The first phase has been the rebuilding of the garden wall at Wren's Nest. The trustees thanked owner Brian McConkey for his help and donation.Later in the year other floors and walls will be treated. The Town Mill is also looking for volunteers to spare an occasional couple of hours.
