A Honiton student has won a brand new Mini.

Lauren Lemmer, who is studying marketing at Plymouth University, completed the national Mini Mission competition early this month and came out top on the leaderboard against 13 other students from across the country.

The challenge captured the imaginations of people in Honiton who helped the 21-year-old with test drives and Mini Mission challenges, which she received points for.

She won help along the way from Honiton Twirlstars who took on the challenge of how many Twirlstars you can fit in a Mini - the answer is 18.

The mayor, Councillor David Foster, town crier Dave Retter and Diddy, the Mayor’s Bear, also took part in a test drive.

Lauren is now awaiting the arrival of her new Baker Street edition of the car, in metallic grey.

She said: “I feel completely over the moon; I can’t stop smiling.

“It’s amazing to know that all the hard work has paid off.”

As part of her prize, Lauren will also get a party thrown for her university by Mini.

She added: “I’d like to thank everyone who supported me. It’s so nice to see everyone getting together as a community and helping one person.

“I’ve also met some lovely people along the way, too.”
