One lucky customer scooped £800 worth of ‘goodies’ when Axminster’s Mole Avon Country Store held its annual equine, pet and bird weekend.

The event offered price discounts and expert advice – along with a free prize draw which was won by local woman Claire Dymond.

She carried off a bundle of products and clothing items for horse and rider.

The key attraction on the Saturday was a touring mechanical horse called ‘Millie’, the only ‘travelling’ one in the UK.

Owned by Emily Lloyd from Eequine, the horse is completely human powered and is suitable for the complete novice right through to the competitor, claiming to help riders and non-riders of all levels to improve riding, core strength and to become better riders.

A spokeswoman for Mole Avon said the event proved to be a huge success, attracting hundreds of customers over the three days.

It was also held at the independent rural supplier’s other stores including its new flagship store in Crediton on consecutive weekends.

The aim was to introduce new customers to the equine range.
