Police appeal after Lyme Regis teenager’s bike is taken outside Tesco and left damaged

Police are appealing for witnesses after a moped rider was assaulted and his bike taken and left damaged in an attack in the car park at Axminster Tesco.

The incident took place outside the Shand Park supermarket on Tuesday, March 31, at around 7.45pm.

The owner of a Peugeot moped was assaulted by a number of male teenagers at the entrance to the store.

His bike was then taken before being dumped in a nearby alley.

Various panels on the bike were scratched – causing around £250 worth of damage to the machine.

The victim, a teenager from Lyme Regis, was not injured.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the incident or who saw anyone tampering with or moving a moped at the time of the offence. They are asked to call PC Mike Harper on the non emergency 101 telephone number, quoting crime reference CR/021763/15

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and callers will not go to court.
