More dog bins are needed

For months now, I have been requesting additional dog bins for the area along the cycle path that connects the end of Glanvill Way with Sidmouth Road and the road between the new green railway bridge on Sidmouth Road, up to and along Battishorne Way to Honiton Bottom, but, as yet, my request has fallen on very deaf ears.Reading the reports of the last council meeting, where it was voted not to supply any more dog bins, it is so apparent that it's a very unfriendly council towards anything "doggy". Councillor Ash seemed to be the only person remotely interested in the subject and the only one that was willing to discuss it.Most of us are obviously doing the right thing in taking our bags home, or depositing them in the nearest waste bin, but a few extra dog bins really wouldn't go amiss, especially in the above areas! Who knows, it might even encourage the lazy dog owners out there to pick up after their pets if they had somewhere to put the bag.I know for a fact that there are a lot of dog walkers, besides myself, that also pick up litter on a regular basis. Often we have to carry it for some distance as there is a real shortage of ordinary waste bins too, and any that are around always seem to be inside children's play areas and well away from the fence and, therefore, not very accessible. Grass verges are never cleared of litter before mowing commences, so glass bottles and cans get shredded and can be harmful to paws and even a child.I have offered to take a council representative on a walk to show where the extra bins are needed, but, as yet, my offer has not been taken up.Talk to anyone out walking their dogs and none of us likes to see dog mess everywhere, and we get as angry as the next person with lazy dog owners that don't pick up after their pets, but we all agree that we need more bins!
