Residents and local businesses affected by the flooding are urged to share their views and experiences with local authorities.

Additional flood surgeries will be held across Devon for residents and local businesses affected by the flooding.

The surgeries have been organised by Devon County Council, the Environment Agency and East Devon District Council.

A session will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at Axminster Guildhall from 12pm until 7pm and on Wednesday, August 1, at Stowford Community Centre, from 12pm to 6.30pm.

The events are an opportunity for residents and local businesses, who have either been affected by the flooding or have on-going concerns about flooding, to share their views and experiences with officers from all of the local authorities.

It will also give the councils and Environment Agency the opportunity to gather information about the flooding incident.

People who attend the open sessions are invited to bring along any photographs, video clips or notes taken during the event.

Laptops will be available to download information.

Devon County Councillor Stuart Hughes, who is the chairman of the Devon Flood Risk Management Partnership, said: “The recent flooding has impacted on many Devon communities and we want to reassure everyone affected that we will listen to their concerns.

“We need to hear their thoughts on what happened and the response to see what lessons can be learnt.

“This is a chance for residents not only from Sidmouth but also from Budleigh Salterton, Harpford and other surrounding communities to talk to officers from all of the relevant bodies and have their say.

“Their information will also help us to build a picture of events and what could possibly be done to be better prepared in future.”
