School has second reason to celebrate after glowing assesment from church inspectors

HAWKCHURCH School is staging a double celebration after receiving high praise from two sets of education officials.

Before Christmas, Ofsted inspectors judged that every aspect of life at the Church of England primary was good or outstanding.

They said good teaching and learning was evident throughout the school and pupils achieved above average standards.

Of the 28 separate judgements made by Ofsted, 22 were good and six outstanding.

Now a separate Church-led inspection by officials from the Salisbury Diocese have found every aspect of its work is good.

Independent Inspector Angela Sumner said: “This popular school is held in high regard by all stakeholders.

“Learners receive good care and support and are encouraged to fulfil their potential.”

Ms Sumner spent a day at the school last month and her report has just been published.

She said: “Learners speak enthusiastically about the caring family atmosphere and express pride in their school.

“They talk about school and church enthusiastically and with enjoyment.

“This is because learners are given good opportunities to develop their potential within a nurturing and inclusive environment.”

Ms Sumner said that the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school is good.

She added: “The strength of leadership and management of the school is evident in the approach and outcomes achieved by the head teacher and governors during times of significant change and challenge.”

“Parents speak very positively of the open and welcoming ethos of the school and they place high value on the care and support shown for all learners.

”Governors are effective and supportive through a range of activities.”

Headteacher Cliff Seabrook said: “We are delighted to have received more positive recognition for all of the hard work which takes place in the school.”

“Everybody here is dedicated to ensuring that all the children reach their full academic potential whilst simultaneously giving the children many different opportunities to develop as responsible and caring individuals.”
