Long serving Royal British Legion fund raisers are also rewarded
DEVON Poppy Appeal organiser Carole Arnold collected a cheque for £1,000 when she visited Seaton last week.
She was at the local Royal British Legion branch meeting to receive the money from Julie Neild, of PJ’s Social Club, and Darren Twamley of the Hook and Parrot.
The money was raised through various activities and by donations from the social club members. It considerably boosted the record breaking amount of £7,500, raised this year by the branch, for the Poppy Appeal.
At the same meeting long service certificates were presented to two volunteers who have worked tirelessly to collect money for the appeal for over 10 years - Bruce Roberts and Ann Roberts. Other winners, who were unable to collect their certificates on the night, were Robert Slade and Leanne Slade.
