Chalk messages appeared on the same pavements trod by nervous youngsters starting their first day at Cranbrook’s St Martin’s Primary School.

More than a dozen motivational messages had been carefully written in different coloured chalk, giving the pupils encouragement as they made their first big walk to school.

The identity of the writer seems known to some parents at the school, but has largely remained secret.

Their motivational messages have been lauded by Tania Beard, headteacher at St Martin’s.

She said: “What a lovely start to everyone’s first day - children, parents and staff were all delighted and enthused by the wonderful messages. We would like to say a big thank you to the secret writer who added an extra bit of sparkle to our wonderful first day back.”

Messages written on the pavements included ‘You’ve got this!’, ‘You are beautiful!’ and ‘Work hard, be kind, and amazing things will happen’.
