Motorcyclist in critical condition after collision with van near Rousdon

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital after a collision with a van near Rousdon yesterday (Sunday June 11).
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at Heathfield Cross in Westhayes at 3.53pm, which involved a white Iveco Daily Panel Van and a white Triumph Dayton 675R motorcycle.
A police spokesman said: “The Triumph was on the main A3052, heading from the Lyme Regis direction towards Colyford.
“The Iveco was emerging from a minor road at Heathfield Cross.
“Weather and road conditions at the time were believed to be dry with good visibility.
“The Iveco emerged into the carriageway as the Triumph was approaching the crossroads.
“A collision occurred with the Triumph hitting the Iveco initially to the offside and across the front of the vehicle.
“The rider of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.”
Officers from Exeter Road’s policing team and the serious collision investigation team attended the scene and are appealing for further witnesses to come forward quoting log number DCP-20170611 - 0592.
