People stuck in a traffic jam near Axminster may hold the key to solving crime, say police
Police believe queuing motorists may have witnessed a burglary just outside Axminster during the recent holidays.
The break-in happened at a bed and breakfast establishment on Charmouth Road, near the Hunters Lodge pub, just between 3.15pm and 5.45pm on Easter Monday. Cash was taken and police hope someone witnessed the break-in or saw something suspicious.
Detective Constable Matthew Burnell, said: βAt the time the A35 was closed which meant that the queue of Bank Holiday traffic tailed back past the affected address. We are hoping that someone witnessed this burglary, or saw someone leaving the addresses later in the afternoon. We know that the B&B was empty and had no guests at the time.β
Anyone witnesses should call 101.
