Annual contest raises funds for Isle of Wight RNLI crew

Musbury Short Mat Bowls Club raised £122 at its annual charity competition.

This year’s event was held in memory of chairman Christine Pomeroy’s late father, Ted Soper, who was a long-standing member of the club.

Several members of the Soper family were present for the evening and the money will go to the Bembridge Lifeboat Station, on the Isle of Wight, which helped the family on a recent occasion.

The competition was won by James Trott, with Michael Nicholls as runner-up. They were presented with their trophies by Mrs Pomeroy.
Musbury Short Mat Bowling Club meets at Musbury Village Hall on Friday evenings and welcomes new members. Previous experience is not necessary - ‘just come and enjoy the fun’, say organisers. Anyone interested in finding out more should call the secretary, Graham Durrant, on 01297 552387.
