Year 8 and Year 9 netball and football teams from Colyton Grammar School recently made a trip to Malaga for training and match experience.
The girls were lucky to be coached by Muriel Seal, a Welsh coach and international umpire, for 4-6 hours every day at the Laude International College in San Pedro.
It was there that they beat the Smoothies under-14 netball side from Gibraltar - a feat they repeated against the under-14 Thrillers in Gibraltar later in the week.
Outside of their intense schedule, the girls were able to look around 'The Rock' and joined the boys' football squad at the Atalaya Hotel for games and activities.
Meanwhile, the boys were trained by a Malaga Football Club player and were given match experience against Malaga CF Academy, losing once, but earning a commendable draw in the second match.
The boys were also given the unique opportunity of attending a press conference with the Malaga Football Club players and witnessing their training.
They were even given a tour of the stadium itself.
The trip was rewarding and extremely beneficial to both squads, a school spokesman told the Midweek Herald.
"It was a once in a lifetime experience", said Mr James Bedford, PE teacher and trip organiser at Colyton.
A second PE teacher, Mrs Nicci Humphries, also accompanied the trip.
