PUPILS and staff at Upottery Primary School celebrated the completion of a 1.4 million rebuilding project, recently. Community members and dignitaries also helped mark the official opening of the 125-year-old school's two new classrooms, hall and kitchen, after a year of major construction work. Councillor Douglas Hull cut the ribbon at the new premises, ably assisted by Gladis Symes - the oldest ex-pupil at the ceremony - and four-year-old Anya Wadman - the school's youngest pupil. Children then put on a musical performance for guests. Headteacher Jillian Nickels said: "It was a real celebration of everything, the children, community and the new building. "It was a lovely atmosphere, the sun was shining on us. Everyone got the chance to see the completion of the project after 12 months of construction - the school has wanted this for years and years. "It's all completely finished and the kids are using it and enjoying every moment, it's a delight to watch them.
