ARTIST Michael Morgan opened the new art room at Axe Valley Community College, which is named after him.He held a workshop with 15 students, celebrating watercolour painting. The students' work was later displayed in the art room, called The Michael Morgan Studio.Charles Sinclair, head of art at the college, said the school was delighted to have Michael Morgan open the new facility and hold a workshop. He said: "He has such a great reputation and his technique is something to be marvelled at. The students will be able to gain a wealth of experience from someone who is so generous with his time and effective in his teaching."Michael is at the top of his game, one of the foremost watercolour painters in the country. He has impressed me immeasurably when visiting a previous show of ours when he went around each and every student giving them encouragement and advice."'A' level art student Annabelle Searle, aged 17, said Mr Morgan's session helped her to enjoy using water colours. She said: "I like the idea that I am not restricted to a paintbrush but can use my fingers, palette knives, sprays and even crumpled clingfilm to create great textures and large abstract areas in the paintings. Thank you Michael for inspiring me.
