A developer would like to hear Seaton residents’ thoughts on a new proposal.

Seaton Park Devon Limited is preparing a planning application for a mixed use development scheme for Seaton, predominantly for employment purposes, including a business development unit for fledgling companies, other offices and a range of workshops.

It also includes housing and two football pitches.

The site will be located on land to the east of Harepath Road.

The proposals will be displayed at a public exhibition at the St Clare’s Centre, Fore Street, on Monday, December 12 and Tuesday, December 13, from 2pm to 7pm.

A spokeswoman for Seaton Park Devon Limited said: “There is a long recognised need for new jobs in Seaton, especially since the closure of the Lyme Bay Holiday Park.

“The East Devon Local Plan includes policy LSE2 for 2.2 hectares of employment, plus recreation development at Harepath Road. “However, although East Devon District Council has been trying to promote the LSE2 development for several years, it is not viable.

“Seaton Park’s proposals offer a means to realise this ambition, by expanding the employment element to 3.8 hectares, including provision for occupiers to relocate from the Seaton Regeneration area around the new Tesco so that the plans there can be completed. “The development also includes 2 football pitches, play and games areas and changing rooms. These proposals are cross subsidised by a mixture of 172 private and affordable homes on the eastern part of the site.

“This means that a new link road can be built through to Colyford Road, which will improve access to the Seaton Regeneration Area and Tesco.”

The new plans also include additional footpath links, traffic calming on Colyford Road and landscape planting.
