A new exhibition opens this October at Woodhayes Gallery near Honiton - featuring the work of artist Liz Cleves.

Painting in acrylics, Liz is inspired by the St Ives School of Painting and uses themes of colour, texture, line and form to convey mood and atmosphere.

Greg Page-Turner, owner of Woodhayes Gallery, said: “We are delighted to welcome this exhibition of Liz Cleves’ work to Woodhayes Gallery.

“We look forward to showcasing her vibrant artworks.”

Liz added: “There is a sort of alchemy in the process of mixing pigments and putting them to work and this process works well alongside the making of the picture itself.

“I am fascinated by contrasts and changes of mood that occur at the interfaces between one shape and another.

“The light that plays on rock faces, the sky, the sea, man-made structures, such as boats
and buildings, draws me to paint.”

Liz Cleves - The Nature of Colour will run at the Woodhayes Gallery from Saturday, October 8, to Sunday, October 16.
