A NEED for a new hall has been identified, deputy mayor Councillor Vivienne Ash assured members of Honiton Town Council's policy committee. She said surveys had been carried out and that the public had been consulted. Detailed financial plans had also been drawn up."At the end of the day, I think people are more important than cars," she said, referring to the loss of parking spaces on the development site. "It is not true that we have plenty of halls that are fit for purpose."We have got to look to the future. A range of activities going on in the hall will bring people into Honiton."We must respect the views of people like Councillor Farnham, who live in a pressure area, but you can't keep going back to square one."Councillor Sharon Holloway said a survey showed 42 organisations wanting to use the new hall, pointing out the centre is in the Local Plan and part of the strategic plan for Honiton.
