A new headteacher will take the reins at Honiton Primary School this year.

Christopher Tribble will replace Andrea Brown when he starts at the school on September 1.

The 36-year-old has been a teacher for 12 years, and has worked in several schools in England, America - and experienced schools as far afield as Jakarta in Indonesia.

Chris was most recently assistant headteacher at Hazelwood Primary School, in Teignmouth.

Speaking to the Herald ahead of his tenure, Chris said: “I intend to bring energy, enthusiasm and high expectations to Honiton Primary School

“This school really spoke to me and I knew it was the school for me.

“I felt that it was a great opportunity to work with the children and staff to create something quite special.

“My philosophy is; children first.

“I really do want to secure an environment where children and their life chances are at the heart of every decision the school makes.

“Choice, engagement and rigour are the fundamentals of good educations and my favourite phrase ‘high expectations’ encapsulates them all.”

Chris said he wants to ensure his pupils are truly experiencing an ‘Outstanding’ school which delivers a ‘truly comprehensive and engaging curriculum’ when he starts his new position next month.

“He said: “I want to see children and parents desperate to get to school to see what the next adventure is and how far they reach and how brilliant they can be.

“If this is the environment we can build, then the school’s results will demonstrate our success.”

Outside of work, Chris, his wife and two children we enjoy the beach and being out on the sea, fishing or snorkelling.

They also enjoy off-road adventures in their family truck.

He added: “This proved very useful in the snow as I am a proud and longstanding member of Devon and Cornwall 4X4 Response, a registered charity which supports the police when their capability has been exceeded.

“I was both delighted and surprised recently when I received a letter of commendation from the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police as I had been both nominated and awarded the ‘Snow Hero’ title for the services I rendered the police and hospitals during those tricky winter spells.”
