DEPUTY Mayor of Honiton Vivienne Ash was unanimously voted by town councillors as the new Mayor this week.

DEPUTY Mayor of Honiton Vivienne Ash was unanimously voted by town councillors as the new Mayor this week.Miss Ash, also a district councillor, has been the acting mayor since the sudden death of Mayor Chris Tratt last year.Mr Tratt, who had been on the council since 2003, was thought to be recovering well from an operation to correct a leaking heart valve, when he died at his home in November.Miss Ash took control of the council at a difficult time and was rewarded by town councillors this week when they voted at the annual meeting of Honiton Town Council, held on Monday night.Councillors also unanimously voted for Councillor Peter Fleming to take over as Deputy Mayor, the position previously held by Miss Ash.The new Mayor of Honiton, before formerly taking control of the meeting, thanked the councillors and said she would do her "very best" for the town in the year ahead.
