A new Honiton-based exhibition is to be unveiled in the following weeks.
Coming to Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) on Saturday, March 28, the interactive display promises to stimulate the auditory and visual senses of visitors.
The main gallery of THG is to be transformed by stringing piano strings which visitors can then pluck to play a tune. Visitors can also record their creations.
Artist Michael Fairfax, who is behind the scheme, said: “Visitors will be able to listen to the sound produced by placing wooden listening devices against the walls as the strings are plucked or bowed.
They will also hear a quieter acoustic sound in the rooms.”
Having been involved in various public art exhibitions across Britain, the Somerset-based artist also plans to assemble and play a CD of visitor’s musical creations.
Michael added: “People will be asked to record themselves and other people playing and send me sound files, which I will collate into a CD for the second phase of the exhibition.”
Part two of the exhibition will take place on May 23 to May 24
The exhibition is free, although donations are welcome. There is also an arts and crafts room for children available.
