New operators sought for Lyme Post Office
Owners taking advantage of the Government’s 1.34 billion nationwide investment programme to step down
New operators are being sought to run Lyme Regis Post Office.
The current owners are taking advantage of a nationwide revamp of the service to step down.
A 1.34 billion investment and support package from the Government will see around 6,000 Post offices converted into new, more modern, formats over the next three years – and means there will be no further programme of branch closures.
The programme does, however, give subpostmasters the opportunity to leave the Post Office network if, for whatever reason, they feel that they are no longer able to operate a particular Post Office branch.
Les Gilbert, director of Post2 Limited, which owns the Lyme Regis branch, in Broad Street, said: “We have decided to take this opportunity in Lyme Regis and for that reason Post Office Limited will advertise until 26th October 2012 for a suitable candidate to operate the Post Office at, or near, the existing premises.
“We will, of course, make every effort to assist Post Office Limited and will, at the same time, continue to operate the branch, as normal until a new operator is appointed.

“Details of the vacancy are available on the Post Office website along with a form to register interest. I may of course also be contacted directly.
“The process is managed by Post Office Limited but we will work with them to ensure the best possible future for the Post Office, customers and staff in Lyme Regis.”
