Superintendent Chris Eastwood to lead policing in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

A new police commander has been appointed to lead policing in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Superintendent Chris Eastwood will be responsible for crime and community policing across the areas including Axminster and Honiton.

He is being supported by a 10-strong team of senior officers including one chief inspector and nine inspectors.

Supt Eastwood, who joined Devon and Cornwall Police in 1986 and has served in Plymouth, Cornwall and Devon in various roles, said: “I am thrilled to take on my new role as commander for Exeter, east and mid Devon. Without exception I have been impressed by the dedication and commitment of officers and staff to deliver the very best possible service.”

He added: “I will work tirelessly with my team to address these challenges and bring offenders to justice.

“My aim is to deliver the best possible policing service to local communities and to visitors to the area.

“I will be working closely with partner agencies so that we can maximise our collective impact to best serve our communities. The area remains one of the safest places in the country and I am committed to keeping it that way.”

Since his appointment he has met with many of his officers, staff and special constables, as well as representatives from partner agencies.
