A NEW police inspector for East Devon has been appointed, Honiton Town Council has heard.
Inspector Jim Gale has taken up a new post at police headquarters in Middlemoor, Exeter.
His replacement will arrive on the patch on July 20. It is not yet known if the inspector will be based in Honiton or Sidmouth.
Also announced last night: Sergeant John Gait is to leave Honiton.
He is also being posted to Middlemoor and is likely to finish duties in Honiton after the town's annual agricultural show, taking place early next month.
Councillors heard he had done a good job in leading the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
