New sergeant joins policing team

A new sergeant will be heading up the neighbourhood policing team in Honiton.
Sergeant Jim Humphrey has taken over from Acting Sergeant Tony Shayler as the neighbourhood team sergeant for both the Honiton Town and Honiton Rural policing teams. He will be working alongside PCSOs Darren England, Sue Rowe, Steve Mingo, Dave Keeler, Phil Anning and PC Clive Vickery.
Sergeant Humphrey has worked for Devon and Cornwall Police for 19 years and has had a number of roles during that time in response, the tactical aid group, target policing team, the intelligence unit and the Force Change programme.
This is a new challenge for the 43-year-old who has not had a neighbourhood policing role before.
He said: “It will be a steep learning curve; building up relationships and partnerships and getting a greater understanding of the priorities of the PACT surveys - speeding and antisocial behaviour - and getting a handle on those, and considering what options we can put in place.”
In his spare time Sergeant Humphrey is a keen motorcyclist and is a big fan of Exeter Chiefs.
