Our historic town that we know and love is under threat - and the threat is real. It could spell the end of everything good that we have in Honiton, and on our High Street. Tesco, on its present site, is popular, well used, ideal for incoming traffic and is far enough away from the High Street not to compete with all of our shops - not forgetting the market! I appeal and plead to all Honiton residents, who care about where they live and the quality of life, to write to East Devon Council at Sidmouth immediately to object to Tesco's planning application for an even bigger store in Ottery Moor Lane. Don't let Honiton become just another one of the towns that has been spoilt completely by supermarkets. The thought of losing our market, Post Office, chemists, bakers and fishmongers is too terrible to contemplate, as is the traffic chaos that the supermarket will cause. Please, write before it is too late. Put posters up in your windows and gardens. Talk to your neighbours and friends. Show that you care. Cllr Ron Farnham Golesworthy Cottage Dowell Street
