A new wool and crafts shop is set to open in Honiton.

The Herald can reveal the new store, which will be run by an existing trader at Honiton Market, will open in the first week of July.

Tony McCollum, chair of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce, who said contractual negotiations are still ongoing.

The business will operate from Honiton’s former British Heart Foundation (BHF) outlet in High Street.

Honiton BHF ceased trading on August 18 last year, with a notice pinned on its door citing the condition of the building and cost involved to make the necessary repairs as the reasons.

Mr McCollum said: “This is good news for Honiton as another new shop is opening which will be totally different to what’s currently offered in the town.

“It’s nice to see a market trader moving into new premises.

“Hopefully we will get more independent traders setting up shop in Honiton.”
