Rumours had been circulating that Tesco was looking to take over the existing Co-operative store in Lace Walk.
Rumours suggesting Tesco would be taking over the existing Co-operative store in Honiton and transforming it into an Express outlet have been quashed by the company.
The Herald had been informed by two credible sources that the supermarket giant was looking to expand its presence in Honiton.
According to the sources, the Co-operative would be taken over by Tesco and a new Express store would open in due course.
However, Tesco have rejected the rumours and stated it has no plans to open a new store.
The company already has a sizeable supermarket in Battishorne Way.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “We are always looking at potential sites for new convenience stores, but we have no current plans to open a new Express store in Honiton.”
