HONITON Town Council is sticking to its guns and will not change its mind over proposed Dog Control Orders for Allhallows Playing Field and the Glen.

East Devon District Council is carrying out a public consultation over plans to impose new control orders.

Dog owners, who are concerned about proposals for dogs to be banned from Allhallows and kept on leads at the Glen, have written to the town council to lodge objections.

But, at a meeting on Monday, councillors agreed dogs should be banned from Allhallows on health and safety grounds because of its primary use for sports pitches.

They further decided that dogs should be kept on leads at the Glen, because of the beauty spot's nooks and crannies which mean dog owners may not always see where their pets leave a mess.

A second round of consultations is to be carried out by the district council before final decisions are made.
