Noise warning for laundry

WEST Country Laundry has engaged a noise consultant in a bid to overcome complaints about 24-hour working.

WEST Country Laundry has engaged a noise consultant in a bid to overcome complaints about 24-hour working.The factory, at Heathpark Industrial Estate, Honiton, has been approached by environmental health officers from East Devon District Council after residents on the Heathfield estate complained noise coming from the laundry was keeping them awake at night.In a report copied to Honiton Town Council, it has been revealed that engineering works are in hand to overcome the noise problems.East Devon District Council says two laundries have been amalgamated and that the business is legally operating 24 hours a day.However, it accepts the noise problem at night is considered a statutory nuisance.Town councillors have been assured that should the laundry's efforts fail a control notice will be issued.
