Honiton Town Council has decided that it is sticking to its guns over Dog Control Orders in the Glen and that dogs should be kept on leads because of the beauty spot's nooks and crannies, which mean dog owners may not always see where their pets leave a mess. The online Oxford English Dictionary defines a nook as a "recess offering seclusion" and a cranny as " a small narrow space". If even their owners cannot see what their dogs are doing in these nooks and crannies, it seems reasonable to conclude that it is only dogs that can access these tight spots easily. Anyone who places themselves in such locations should have their motives questioned, although I suggest that treading in dog's mess may be the least of their problems! Steve SpeckHoniton
