VILLAGERS linked forces with Sidmouth's Cancer Research UK shop to stage a fashion show with a difference at Northleigh.Brainchild of villager Teresa Hattam, from Northleigh Ladies Circle, who wanted to fundraise in memory of a resident who died from cancer, she approached shop manager Lenny Titherington for help with the show."She came in just before Christmas and we have spent since then getting outfits together," said Lenny, who was delighted the evening raised 633."We had eight models from the village and my Japanese student Taka Abe, who modelled the clothes, which had all been donated to the Sidmouth shop."Held at Northleigh village hall on St George's Day, it was a themed event."As well as red and white for St George, we had Tea with the Vicar, A Day at the Races and a wedding theme," said Lenny.Compere Ian Morgan brought a touch of humour to the evening as he described each outfit, as well as telling the 100-strong audience about Cancer Research UK's work, while John O'Leary from the Kings Arms, Stockland, acted as vicar and raised a laugh coming on as a 'bride' in the finale.
