JUST as pensioners in Offwell were getting used to collecting their pensions from Honiton, following the closure of their village sub-post office, they have been dealt a new blow.Their daily bus into town has been scrapped. The only public transport now available to them is an alternative, once-a-week bus service, which operates on a Tuesday.Disgusted villager Eileen Rooke only found out the seven days-a-week service had been stopped when she returned from holiday. "Not only have we lost our post office, we've now lost our bus," she told the Herald."People will now struggle to get to Honiton to collect their pensions."Mrs Rooke has contacted Stagecoach, to ask why the service has been withdrawn from Offwell, but says she is still trying to get to the bottom of it."The thing is, the bus still goes to Wilmington - but that's too far for us to walk," she said. The Herald is investigating why the service was withdrawn from Offwell.n Have your say!
