PLANS to extend a nursing home in Honiton have been given the thumbs down by Devon County Council and planning officers at Knowle on highways and design grounds.

PLANS to extend a nursing home in Honiton have been given the thumbs down by Devon County Council and planning officers at Knowle on highways and design grounds.Members of East Devon District Council's development control committee were due to be told yesterday that inadequate information had been supplied by the applicants.The owners of The Manor care home in Exeter Road are proposing the erection of an extension to provide eight new bedrooms, a dayroom and ancillary accommodation.Honiton Town Council recommended the plan for approval. But district councillors were being advised as the Herald went to press that the proposal raises serious highways issues on safety grounds and that the extension's design was "not acceptable".
