TWO bus journeys and an overnight stay in bed and breakfast accommodation is what it will take for Offwell residents to reach one of the suggested alternatives to their own village post office.According to Post Office Limited, Colyton Post Office is a feasible alternative to Offwell - even though public transport does not allow for a return journey the same day and two buses are needed to reach Colyton.Post Office Limited's only other alternative is Honiton Post Office, which requires a three-hour wait for public transport back to Offwell. The campaign to save Offwell Post Office drew to a close on Monday, when a public consultation period ended. Reverend Brian Green, chairman of Offwell Rural Services Association, said: "There is no indication of when we will get an answer. It's guesswork, but it could be later this month. A large body of opinion says minds are already made up. There is no compulsion on Post Office Limited to bother with issues raised in the consultation."I think the campaign has been as good as it possibly could have been. I was encouraged by the number of people who have written and by those who turned out for the protest march.
