Scouts light beacon at Offwell to mark Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
More than 100 people attended a Diamond Jubilee event staged by 1st Honiton Scouts at The Old Pavilion in Offwell.
Games of rounders, cricket and football followed a 6pm tea and were held in tune with the jubilee concert staged by Gary Barlow for the Queen outside Buckingham Palace in London. Music from the concert was relayed to the scouts’ event.
Following a barbecue, draw and ‘guess the name of the jubilee teddy’ competition, it was time to light the scouts’ jubilee beacon.
Ryan Braunton-Turner, 19, an Olympic torchbearer from Wilmington, ran along a line of people and to the beacon bonfire with his torch just before it was lit.
The evening was rounded off with a fireworks display.
The scouts would like to thank the owners of The Old Pavilion for allowing them to hold the event there.
