AN open day is being staged at Roundball Wood - as Honiton Town Council bids to find a new honorary warden for the beauty spot.A vacancy has been created following the resignation of long-serving warden and ex-councillor Ron Webb. The open day will take place from 11.30am on Sunday, October 19, and will provide anyone interested in becoming a warden with an overview of the work recently carried out at the wood.Town clerk Lyn Hargood said: "As well as visiting the wood regularly, the wardens carry out minor light maintenance work. In the near future, the council is hoping to discover more about the history of the wood and its fauna and flora, and to undertake educational-based activities there."The commitment, in terms of time, need not be great, and enthusiasm and interest are more important than knowledge or experience.
