A SEATON woman is urging people this week to wrap up a shoe box of presents for children in need this Christmas.

The Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child offers gifts for victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster.

Pamela Lucas, of 55 Scalwell Lane, Seaton, has asked people to bring the boxes to her before November 17, along with £2.50 for insurance and delivery.

She said: "Sometimes these boxes are the only present the child will have had. Know that each one will bring happiness to a destitute and needy child."

She asked those interested in taking part also consider older children, and packing practical items such as exercises books and pens - which the children need to attend school.
