A few electronic organ enthusiasts started to meet at the Three Horseshoes pub on the Lyme Regis road 25 years ago, and the East Devon Organ Club was born.

It met there for about four years and then moved to the Primley Road Church Hall, Sidmouth, in 1988 and the club is now celebrating its silver jubilee.

The club meets on the second Tuesday of each month, when a concert is given by professional organists, who bring their own wonderful electronic organ.

They are set up on a well-presented stage and the music covers the full range from classical to songs from the shows.

The November concert was the last for 2009.

Concerts start again in February of next year, after the annual meeting held in January, when the Sidmouth Singers will entertain after the business is done, and a wonderful buffet will be provided.

To mark the club's anniversary, at the November 10 concert, Cllr Peter Sullivan, chairman of the Sidmouth Town Council, attended, together with his wife Janet.

A celebration cake was prepared and offered at the interval, after which there was a raffle.

At one time the club had over 100 members, coming from all over East Devon, and also some visitors from abroad have attended on various occasions.

Each concert is a wonderfully relaxed evening enjoying the music, with an opportunity to make new friends. The motto of the club is KEEP MUSIC LIVE.
