According to a post on social media, the ostrich has been spotted ‘happily walking around’ in a field at Stafford Cross.

One post suggests the giant flightless bird has been causing problems for nearby residents and motorists - though no action seems to have been taken to capture the creature.

It has also been suggested that the bird is a pet belonging to a local man.

However, extreme caution should be taken when approaching an ostrich - its kick can kill a human.

Police say there have been no reports made to them.
