STUDENTS across the Axe Valley have been celebrating another year of successful GCSEs exam results.

STUDENTS across the Axe Valley have been celebrating another year of successful GCSEs results.

Axe Valley Community College achieved record results, with 76 per cent gaining five A* to Cs, up from its previous best of 69 per cent.

A* to C in English and Maths was up 12 per cent to 66 per cent. Headteacher Martin Smith said students had worked hard and he was proud of their achievements.

He added: “I think the results are a massive step forward for the college.”

Students at The Woodroffe School received outstanding grades, with 80 per cent of students awarded five A* to C grades, well above the national average.

And at Colyton Grammar School, 85 per cent of all GCSEs awarded were A or A* grades.

Seven ‘star’ students achieved A*s in all 11 subjects they studied.
