OVER 2,000 people visited the Colyford Goose Fayre on Saturday.

Colyton resident Nicola Strawbridge rang up Chris Evans on the Radio 2 show and explained about the village's Michaelmas celebration.

The annual event at Springfield returned after a one year break due to work in progress.

A large procession, led by the Exeter Morris men and Mayor Colin Pady and his wife Val, walked through the village - with many residents dressed in medieval costumes. Four heralds from Colyton Grammar School played a fanfare welcome before the mayor declared the fayre open.

Attractions included a Ram Roast, the traditional Mummers Play and music from Woodroffe School English Music Group.

The fayre is held at the Springfield by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Pountney, and raises money for the benefit of local community projects and organisations.
